Amazon Prime Day moved to JUNE this year, and opportunities to get Amazon credit and save money run now through June 22. This is a great time to stock up on gifts for your tweens and teens. Below are the details from us as moms on how you can maximize Amazon Prime 2021. We're keeping a close eye out and updating info as it changes, but keep in mind that these deals can change quickly and often.

What is Amazon Prime Day 2021?
Prime Day started a few years back as a way to celebrate Amazon’s anniversary. It’s just for Amazon Prime members and has grown to two days and a much bigger selection of discounted items. Amazon products are usually deeply discounted, but Prime Day offers deals on electronics, gifts, pet supplies, kitchen and much more.
Some deals last the entire event while other Lightening Deals are limited time offers.
The Prime Day deals are exclusively for Amazon Prime members, so if you’ve been meaning to sign up, now’s a great time. A Prime membership costs $13 a month or $119 a year. You can also sign up for a free 30-day trial to take advantage of Prime Days and then decide whether or not to stick with the service. You aren’t charged if you cancel within 30 days.
I use my Prime membership primarily for the free two-day shipping, but our family also likes streaming movies and TV shows from Prime Video.
When does Prime Day Officially Begin and End?
Amazon Prime Day 2021 begins at midnight Pacific time (3 a.m. EST) on June 21 and runs until 11:59 PT (2:59 a.m. EST) on June 22. It was in October last year, so you’re not crazy if this feels like different timing. Rumor has it that retail giant Amazon might hold a second Prime Day this fall, but there’s no official word on that.
What Prime Day Categories Have the Best Deals?
Amazon usually cuts really good deals on its own products and services, like Kindles, Fire Sticks, Alexa, Audible and more. There are also deals on kitchen items, electronics, small appliances, gifts for tween girls, gifts for tween boys, gifts for dads and more.
How to Find the Best Prime Day Deals?
Prepare Ahead of Time
Consider who and what you’re buying for in advance. Ask yourself:
- Who do I need to buy for over the next 6-8 months?
- What birthday and Christmas gifts do I already know I need to purchase?
- What household or family items (think small appliances or electronics) have I been considering if the price is right?
- What Amazon services (like Audible audiobooks/podcasts or Amazon Music Unlimited) should I try while I can get an extended free trial?
Once you have this list, do a little homework. We considered a Ring doorbell for a long time before buying. It helped that we understood about different versions or wired vs non-wired. Then when we saw it for a good price, we knew it was a good price.
Now we want a new smart TV for the basement and I’m secretly pining after a Roomba. So my homework is to research what I really want and what’s a good price so I’ll know it when I see it.

- Save more than 50% on your first 4 months of Audible Premium Plus - $6.95 per month. Then it reverts to the usual $14.95 monthly cost. Apple AirPods Pro, Now $197, Original price $249
I really want to upgrade my Apple AirPods to the Pro version. I've been more than impressed with the AirPods, and these fit even more securely since they come with three sizes of silicone tips.
I LOVE my AirPods - seriously they are way better than I expected. They fit in my ears (which I always seem to struggle with when I buy headphones), the sound quality is amazing and they truly are noise-canceling.
Beats Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, Now $124.99, Original price $199.95
Quality on-ear headphones are a major wish-list item for tweens and teens. They get a little pricey, but good headphones will last for years (as long as they don't get lost or broken that is).
Bose QuietComfort Wireless Bluetooth Noise-Canceling Headphones, $249, original price $349
My teen son got these for Christmas, and they're pretty amazing. The leather is so soft and the noise canceling and overall sound is top-notch.
Echo Show 5 with Indoor Smart Security Camera, $59.99, original price $124.98
I saw the Echo Show in a friend's kitchen this week. She had a rotating slideshow of family photos on display. This is an amazing price for a bundle that includes the Echo Show (usually $90) AND the Blink Mini indoor security camera.
Echo Show 5, 1st Generation 2019, $49.99, original price $89.99
This is a crazy low price for the Echo Show - even the 1st generation 5 - so it probably won't last.
Echo Show 8 2021 2nd Gen release, $103.99, original price $129.99
The Echo Show 8 has a larger screen than the 5, which is nice for watching videos or video calls. It can also stream music, show photos and control smart home devices.
Fire TV stick streaming device, $39.99, original price $49.99
If you have an older TV, the Fire stick is an affordable way to access Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney+, YouTube, ESPN and more. You can also set it up to work with Alexa voice commands or to stream music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora and more.
Amazon Smart Plug, $14.99, original price $24.99
My sister and brother-in-laws house uses these Smart Plugs, and they're on my wish list. He tells Alexa to turn lights to 50% and it's done.
TP-Link Deco Mesh WiFi System, $129.99, original pric $149.99
I have this system, which extends and strengthens our WiFi signal throughout the whole house (actually up to 5,500 square feet it claims). We purchased it while kids were doing remote school and it has been a big help in a house with teens and tweens on devices.
Ring Video Doorbell Wired bundle with Echo Dot (Gen 3), $44.99, original price $99.98
We asked for a Ring Doorbell for Christmas since we have older kids coming and going when we’re not always home. This bundle is a great deal, but do your homework on whether you want wired or not and what version of the Ring works best for your family. There are deals on other version of the Ring.
Blink Mini – indoor smart security camera, $19.99, original price $34.99
This is still on my list to add to our house: a smart security camera with two-way audio. A good friend of ours likes to yell at the dog to get off the couch through the camera from his desk at work. This also works with Alexa.
Roomba, $229.99, Original price $274
My sisters both named their Roombas - Cinderalla (Cindy) and Alfred. I'm just jealous they have a Roomba at all, since I'm the only sister with a dog.
Gaming Chair, $94.99, Original price $119.99
This gaming chair is on sale and you can clip an Amazon coupon for an added $5 off. It comes in multiple colors and has tens of thousands of top reviews.
YnM Weighted Blanket, $39.80, original price $79.90
This price is for the 15 lb twin/full bed size blanket. My teen son uses a 15 lb weighted blanket and loves it.
Ninja Personal Blender, $69.99, original price $79.99
We have an older version of this Ninja and use it all the time to make smoothies. It’s quick and easy to use and clean (unlike our bigger blender/food processor, which we rarely use).
